Carolyn Corrie, irakasle bisitariari egindako elkarrizketa

Hello everybody! My name is Carolyn Corrie and I am the new English teacher from the United States. I will be working here at Instituto Txindoki until June, 2012, as part of a new program sponsored by the Spanish Ministry of Education called “North American Visiting Professors in Spain.” There are sixty teachers from all over the U.S. and Canada who have been placed in all the regions of Spain. I am the only one in Guipuzkoa province. I know that your school must be a special place to be chosen for the program and I feel very lucky to have been placed here.
If you want to know more about me you can go to this website http://instructional1.calstatela.edu/lkamhis/tesl565_sp11/corrie_walker/index.htm and click on “About the Builders: Carolyn.” I created this website for a class I took in graduate school on “Using Computers in the Language Classroom.” I have an undergraduate degree in History and Latin American Studies, a law degree and a master’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I have been teaching English to adult immigrants in Los Angeles for the past ten years. Most of my students are from Mexico and Central America, while a few are from Asia and Africa. I usually teach the beginning level students. It’s very exciting for me to be able to teach students with an advanced level of English here at Instituto Txindoki.
For a long time, I have wanted to live and work abroad. Although I have traveled a lot in Latin America, and lived for four months in Costa Rica as a univeristy student, I have only been to Europe for brief visits and have never been to the Basque Country. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about your history, culture, language, and educational system, a knowledge which I can share with my friends and colleagues when I return to the United States.
My husband Robert and daughter Lucy are here with me this year. We live in Donosti-San Sebastian and I take the train to Beasain everyday.
Please come talk to me. I am happy to try to answer any questions you have about me or the United States.
